Legendary Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle has passed away at the age of 92, bringing to a close one of the most iconic musical journeys in the history of Bollywood.
According to reports, the veteran singer died in Mumbai after being hospitalised due to health complications, including a chest infection and exhaustion. Her family confirmed the news, while tributes poured in from across the world, recognising her immense contribution to music.
Asha Bhosle’s career spanned more than eight decades, during which she recorded over 12,000 songs in multiple languages. She was widely regarded as one of the most versatile voices in Indian cinema, known for effortlessly adapting to different musical styles ranging from classical and ghazals to pop and cabaret.
Often referred to as the “voice of Bollywood,” she lent her voice to countless actresses on screen, shaping the sound of Indian cinema for generations. Her famous songs, including “Dum Maro Dum” and “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja,” remain timeless classics.
